Our inspiration

Our approach is inspired by the I Ching, where Abundancy is described as ‘clarity within, movement without – this produces greatness’.

This is expressed in our identity; the symbol for Abundancy Feng, thunder over fire, which is made up of two other symbols one over the other –  above, Chen, the arouser, thunder.  below, Li, the clinging, fire. We believe that all organisations can and must transition to a state where natural and human abundance and resilience is maximised to deliver a more prosperous and sustainable way of life for all.

In the I Ching,  Feng appears when everything is currently very successful. In general it tells us to enjoy the good times but also make plans for the future of change. Thus at Abundancy Partners we aim to help organisations celebrate and learn from current success whilst innovating for change through a focus on wellbeing and sustainability.

In relation to love and friendships and community it reminds us to enjoy and celebrate the richness of relationships. In relation to business it reminds us that even though you are currently very successful you must make sure you make plans for the future.

It is a reminder that although it is fine to enjoy this period you should not make the mistake of thinking this period will last forever. Everything is transient. Success, like adversity is just as transient. Enjoy this period of life by all means but make plans to provide for the future when times may not be so beneficial. Celebration is appropriate but guard against making foolish decisions. Major success is all too rare to be taken lightly.

This philosophy applies so very well for the times we live within. We live in a time of plenty, bu great change is almost upon us. So, whilst we should celebrate those things most valuable to our flourishing – friends, community and trust – we must also plan and act for great change. Sadly our culture, our politics and our business world encourage a focus on ‘bigger’ rather than ‘better’. They also encourage a blindness to the ensuing and radical changes almost upon us. Are we really planning appropriately for change? Are we putting in place the foundations of spiritual, community, political and economic renewal to transition to a wellbeing economics?

At Abundancy Partners we are focused on helping organisations see both the need to celebrate the good and to plan for its continuance in new forms and within the capacity of the planet.
